-Plus 7 rocking tips to stay your beautiful self over the holiday season-
I just saw an ad reminding us that it is less than 2 weeks until Thanksgiving…swoosh…bye bye Halloween.
This truly is my favorite time of year… I love everything about it!
But have you noticed the nonstop push by retailers to start the December holidays earlier and earlier?
I’m not sure how I feel about that… mixed feelings I guess! How about you?
Which brings me to my point …
Let’s relax and enjoy all of it, this time of the year revolves around sharing, caring and spending lots of money AND … let’s say it out loud…the expectations run really high!
Followed by the ever so popular New Year’s resolutions, which I’ll dedicate an entire post to in December …Stay tuned for it!
But what does all this have to do with eating?
Well a lot! …Seriously, a lot, because for some of us the Holidays can be a source of stress.
If you are anything like me, stress affects your eating.
In my case, it makes me eat more …Does this happen to you too?
So I came up with a few tips for those of you who feel like me!
And for the few of you who eat less under pressure, these tips will work for you as well.
The 7 tips that will help you rock the holiday season
Sit down and eat breakfast and lunch. I don’t care if you are cooking for 1,000
people. Don’t say I will wait until I’m finished cooking, or I don’t have time, make time for yourself. You’re cooking for 1,000 you deserve to eat breakfast and lunch to maintain evvvvvennnn energy.
Don’t skip meals. A little different than tip 1, now you're a guest. Don’t tell yourself, I’m going to this fantastic event and I want to wait and eat there…NO… always eat breakfast and lunch and your appetite will be much more stable at the event.
Don’t sample everything that is served. That might sound obvious, but with all the sumptuous foods before us and appreciating the hosts’ tremendous effort to create a beautiful holiday paradise for you, we might just fall into a food vortex. ONLY eat what really appeals to you.
Decide before hand what you are going to eat. You’ve already eaten breakfast and lunch (remember tips 1 and 2)- decide-I’m going to have 2 drinks, try one appetizer, eat some protein, something green and 1 holiday taste of dessert-Done!
Relax and slow down when you are eating…always.
Choose wisely where you spend your holiday energy. Enjoy the moments by being selective about where you go and what you eat when you’re there.
If you have guests staying with you during the holidays invite them into your good habits, go for a walk, yoga etc. Don’t suspend your activities because you are hosting. You’ll be a much better host if you are feeling your best.
Till next time – Relax…Slow Down…Enjoy!
